Hello. This is Kai Guide from Enjoy Street, a place full of small pleasures and insightful travel.

I’m busy preparing for Enjoy Street’s great opening. Are there many fun and happy things like me these days?

Today, you will especially have a trip to the cave with me.

What image comes to your mind when you think of caves? Droplets of water falling from stalactites, bats seem to be staring at me somewhere, and I think treasures are hidden in a space we don’t know. In fact, when we think of caves, we inspire a lot of imagination, both historically and through the media. In cave paintings that have been handed down from a long time ago, you can get a glimpse of the life of the time, such as animals, hunting, clothes, and faith, or you can find the beginning of cartoons and movies through murals with stories. Before building a house in earnest, caves were a comfortable place for primitive people.

I think Gwangmyeong Cave is a meaningful cave among the caves. Compared to Danyang’s Gosu Cave, which was made of carbonate rock in the early Paleozoic era 500 million years ago, or Jeju Island Manjang Cave, a cave created by lava during the eruption of Mt. Pliose and Pleistocene in the Cenozoic era, it is because Gwangmyeong Cave is a curved space in the ground created by humans, and it may have changed its use like a cave in the primitive cave era compared to other caves that mean the preservation of natural space, but it is still used well in everyday life.

Originally, Gwangmyeong Cave was a mine that had been mining minerals such as gold, silver, and copper since 1912.

Then, it was closed in 1972. Since then, it has been used as a salted shrimp storage by utilizing a cool space where the temperature is maintained at 13 degrees Celsius thanks to groundwater, and opened as a citizen’s space in 2011. If you visit in summer, you can enjoy the unique cool feeling of the cave, and in winter, you feel rather warm. This space created to simply mine minerals, 100 years later, has come to be used as a space for people to stay, relax and enjoy.

It’s more interesting because it’s an artificial space in nature, created by human needs from the beginning. In addition, Gwangmyeong Cave is more popular because it can be easily found by public transportation in the metropolitan area.

It feels new to see the gold, silver, and treasure that I said I thought of when I first thought of caves. Of course, it’s all fake, but the vicarious experience of being able to wind up like the archaeologists in Indiana Jones is not bad.

Uniquely, there’s a wine cellar. You can display wines from Paro nationwide, sample events, and purchase them yourself.

It was spectacular to set up a stage in the widest space by taking full advantage of the characteristics of Gwangmyeong Cave and held a media facade show. In addition, various plans using the historical and spatial context of Gwangmyeong Cave, such as VR, Horror Experience Center, and Miner Experience Zone, are attracting many tourists.

It shows off its charms so that tourists who have visited can find it again.

Cave Aqua World and the wall of hope in the golden mine, provides a good view for adults as well as children to make memories. The modern history museum, which commemorates the first use of the mine, is also good to add meaning because it can engrave historical meaning.

Gwangmyeong Cave is not only well-established, but also well-established nearby parks. If you are fascinated by the total natural lighting inside the dark, it would be nice to have a relaxing time to take a walk in the park again with our own speed.

So, why don’t we go inside the fantastic Gwangmyeong Cave with Kai?

If you subscribe to Enjoy Street YouTube, press like, and set notifications, you’ll be very blessed!

Gwangmyeong Cave is charged 6,000 won for adults (3,500 won for teenagers and 2,000 won for children). If you are a citizen of Gwangmyeong, you can get a discount. You can also ride the elephant car Aisha, which connects to Gwangmyeong Cave from nearby public transportation. There are reviews that it’s fun to go through the winding road. Also, there is no bathroom inside the cave, so go to the bathroom in advance~!

Please refer to the website for more information on Gwangmyeong Cave, which was proudly listed as one of the top 100 Korean tours this year following last year.

‘Enjoy Street’ travel packages can help you privately travel to Jebudo Island, including Gwangmyeong Cave, which I introduced today. If you’re curious and interested, click on it.
