Hello, I’m Rita, who tells the story of a trip with my child.
As half of Korea’s population lives in the Seoul metropolitan area, it seems that they decide to leave for places they have never been to during the vacation season. I decided to go to Geojedo Island this time.
Tongyeong, Yeosu, Suncheon, and Busan are definitely famous tourist attractions, but Geojedo Island seems to be less famous than them. Yeosu, Suncheon, and Tongyeong are close to each other, so while traveling at once, the road from Yeosu to Geoje was not easy.
I was sad that I couldn’t spend much time in Yeosu because I was going to Geojedo Island next. But I want to say that it was worth just appreciating the beautiful color of the sea on the southern coast.
The front of the accommodation we stayed in was a beach full of pebbles, but on the way back home, I was fascinated by the beach we met on the way to the land from Geojedo Island.
The sea on one side of the road down the hill and the sandy beach around it made me feel the urge to go there.
That was Sagok Beach.
There must be good reasons for all the famous beaches. The reason seems to be the wide sandy beach, moderate waves, and open horizon. Sagok Beach is a relatively small beach. Below the shallow waters, I could see the small crabs moving busily. Fish the size of children’s fingers were swimming gently in the same water.
That’s why children lost track of time chasing crabs and catching fish with both hands. We didn’t prepare the beach play items, but we played for a long time with a plastic spoon that someone left and a soft toy that we took all the trip.
The seawater was shallow and calm. As shown in the picture, the seawater was trapped inside the bay, so there were few waves and it was shallow, so it was perfect for playing with children. I was happy for some moments when I sat with an umbrella open on the sandy beach, just looking at the yacht passing by in front of me, flying seagulls, and clouds, and sometimes answered when my child asked me while she playing house.
As it was a small beach, there were not many additional facilities. There wass a bathroom and a cafeteria. There was a shower room, but they sold lukewarm water for 1,000 won, so I could only rinse the sand. The cafeteria sold hot dogs or Sotteok Sotteok and rent tubes or parasols. If you rent some tables, then you can have a meal here.
With this opportunity, the charm of Geoje Island has increased a lot for me.
I’d like to go again if I have a chance. So, I found out that places like Oedo/Haegeumgang River, Geojepo Water Conservation Property Park, Geoje Chosun Maritime Culture Center, and Haegeumgang Theme Museum were also worth visiting. Namhae is a travel destination that can overflow its value just by looking at the sea and returning, but if you want to travel for a few days, it would be good to stop by this cultural space.
