“Every day you have a chance to meet someone who passes by you. You would not know anything about the person. But maybe, one day, the other person can become just your friend or a close friend who knows your depth.” – Hong Kong Movie ‘Chungking Express(重慶森林)’

I felt like I was in the back street of Hong Kong. I forgot, but my Hong Kong was like very attractive. This is the Jangmanok restaurant, the hot place these days in Hip-Jiro (Euljiro), that evoked memories of Hong Kong that I have forgotten.

This is the alley where Jangmanok is located. It goes well with the word Hip-Jiro.

On a drowsy Saturday afternoon, I went to Euljiro called Hip-Jiro which was full of the retro feel. From the entrance of the alley, I understood why this place, which is full of exotic atmosphere, has been called ‘Hip-Jiro’.

Sewoon Arcade, Korea’s first residential and commercial complex in the 1970s became a landmark of Seoul, so the crowd has been crowded in Euljiro. Euljiro, lined with printing shops, lighting shops, and tool shops in alleys, is just as it was in the old days of Seoul. Recently, a new sensation has been brought to Euljiro, where the alley scenery created by shops is distinctive. This place, the home of the residents, became the coolest neighborhood commercial district and was even nicknamed ‘Hip-Jiro.’ The old alleyway has become a favorite attraction for young people. The location is near Euljiro 3-ga Station, and you can find it right away.

I had to wait in front of the restaurant for an hour and a half because I mistook the opening hours, but it was not boring because there were chairs that have something vibe in front of the store and it was fun to enjoy the scenery of the street. (I could easily find people who take Hip-Jiro pictures on the streets.)

Eulji Jangmanok Opening Hours – Weekdays: 5:00 pm to 1:00 am – Weekends (Saturday, Sunday): 12:00 pm to 1:00 am

This is Jangmanok, where you can taste Hong Kong home-style food, which makes you feel like you’re at a restaurant in the backstreet of Hong Kong.

Jangmanok restaurant, which I went to after an hour and a half of waiting, was really “Hong Kong-like.” As soon as I entered the restaurant, I heard the sound of taking pictures here and there, so I thought this was a good food restaurant and a good photo spot restaurant.

Wherever you take pictures in the restaurant, you can get nice pictures.

If you would like to feel Hong Kong’s memories and sensitivities in Seoul, I recommend a food trip to Jangmanok, where the foods are delicious in addition to the good atmosphere.
